UNCONSCIOUS DRIVERS WITH A CONSCIOUS SOLUTION

My wife has been tracking the daily accident rate of cyclists in Milnerton.
At this stage it is one a day.
This is beyond shocking, and both cyclists and motorists need to change something.
Is it their attitude.
Is it their behaviour, like actually obeying the rules of the road.

I believe it is consciousness.
Most people are so unconscious, myself included, that we fail to notice what others are up to.
And many many more mistakes are happening on the roads as a result.

There were four incidents of road rage in the past week, again.
We take personally that someone else made a mistake, drove badly, or plain didn’t care.
And it drives us insane.
We express on the roads what we are unable to express at work or at home.
And so we rage.

Yet shouldn’t we all be mindful that
“but for the grace of Gad, there go I”
Being compassionate and gentle and patient will solve many of our internal stresses, our ulcers and our cancers.
How about just for a week, share a smile on the roads.
How about being kind and letting someone in.
And being forgiving, yet again, of other peoples mistakes.
Let’s not take our people’s actions personally, and be personal in a kind and friendly way.

Good luck and be safe out there,
just for today

Be Carefull out there!

As a driving instructor in Cape Town, we are on the road more then the average driver.

And we see some scary things on the road.

I personally have seen 3 dead bodies, 5 major accidents and paramedics busy with resuscitation at least 4 out of 5 times,

That is excluding the 14 or so minor accidents … All in the past month.

We are training learners and have I been forced off the road by an impatient driver at least 3 times in the past month as well.

A driver merely drove into the back of one of our learners recently too. And they were doing what they are required by law to do, stopped at a stop street.

There are reasons for this increased activity (accidents) on our roads within Cape Town and surrounds.

1. We have road works everywhere (and drivers insist on driving at the same speed as if there weren’t road works)

(This by the way is for two reasons, one is the preparation for World Cup 2010 and two for the data cable that will bring inexpensive high speed internet to our world from the East Coast cable)

2. We are all distracted due to the Global Economic Crisis, and our own economic challenges.

3. There is a greater universal chaos energy and scientific polarity shifts that is impacting all of us.

Yes we could come up with legality of drivers, attitudes, lack of traffic presence, lack of law abiding, taxi’s, regulation of bikes, or a multitude of other reasons, but the big picture does high light reasons why we all should be careful out there.
